![]() All went Ok for a day or two, then in live view the unit would not work, I checked the wire connections etc: I could not get any readings on my Canon 7D Camera at all, my 7D went dead. If this is not important to you my guess is you will love this unit.Īfter reading reviews and recommendations for this product I thought this would be Great for my Wildlife Photography. The ability to adjust the angle of the receiver down a bit would really help with close subjects. You will get much longer viewing using the inspire view/camera mode but as it is mounted in the flash shoe be aware the actual photo angle and composition are different from what actually comes thru the lens. And to reset it required pushing the set button on the back of the camera. I love the DSLR - through the lens viewing feature - but this REALLY eats up the camera battery! Also I was not able to keep the live view on my Canon 50D working longer than one minute till it shut down. I was able to watch a turtle eating lettuce outside and trigger the shutter from my living room. Indoors it worked very well and this was not needed. I made a soft rubber viewing tube to hold between the unit and my eyes and this helped a lot. The monitor is hard to see in full daylight if you are watching it say for the appearance of wildlife. I returned the unit because of this but may reorder. The shutter cable/receiver connection would fail after a few minutes without additional added pressure or a zip tie attached to keep the internal connection intact. My unit unfortunately had a connection glitch. I was very excited to use this remote with its live view monitor. Please feel free to post any questions about the device. ![]() Works great with my Canon Vixia HF-S200, Rebel XTi and 50D (live view on 50D only). It took me about 20 minutes to have it all figured out and shooting. I bought a RAM mount to mount the Inspire display to the pole and it all looks very professional.Īnyway, I can report that this item IS for real. The shutter button on the Inspire is useless here, but my camcorder has a remote control of it's own to control start/stop, zoom and a few other features. The Inspire works with this device as well since it just hooks into the AV output on the camcorder. I just bought a camcorder which I use on the 20' monopod for kids football games. For that, I'll leave the live view on, get the shot then bring it down. Another use I plan for this is with my 20' modified painters pole (giant monopod). Or you can just stay in live view mode to use the device as a high tech waist level finder, allowing easy ground level shooting without having to be on your belly. Then switch to the transmitter mounted video and wait until your subject is in position. You get your composition setup using live view. The use strategy of this device really is impressive. This will be a huge benefit for studio use like having additional shooters on each press of the button. Also, I know of no other device, wireless or not, that will control more than one camera at a time (with optional, additional transmitters). Although I've only tried one other device, I know no other device that has it's own dedicated video to save your camera battery from being depleted in minutes from live view being on all the time. I've only tried one other (Wired Gigtube) and it would not work at all with my XTi or 50D. This device is leaps and bounds ahead of any other live view remote out there. These last two points can't be blamed on this remote though. Although they description says you can review your pics remotely without going back to the camera, this isn't true. Can't go from shooting to picture review remotely. Can't switch between live view and Inspire video remotely. The hot shoe thumb dial locking isn't very secure. The display has a built hand strap loop hole, but doesn't come with a hand strap. Needs a 1/4-20 mount on the display / receiver there's no easy way to mount it to anything. Soft plastic screen needs clear protective shield added. No AV cable included must use the long one that came with your camera for live view. Function buttons on display/receiver are not labeled at all. No case or pouch to hold transmitter, receiver and cables. This is great to use with camcorders so long as your camcorder has its own remote control. Works with any camera that has an AV output to remote view what the camera is seeing. Capable of controlling up to 4 cameras at the same time (with additional hot shoe transmitters). Comes with cables to work with either type of Canon remote. Transmitter and receiver run on common AA cells 4 each. ![]() Reliable two stage focus/shutter button. Hot shoe mounted microvideo cam, independent of cameras live view to preserve camera battery.
